  • Who is the provider?

    PetPlus is brought to you by Pet Benefit Solutions. Your pets are family too, which is why Pet Benefit Solutions has plans to help make pet healthcare savings easy and affordable.
  • How can this help me?

    A PETplus membership also includes access to over 50,000 Caremark pharmacies around the country where you get pick-up for free, usually the same day. All pharmacy prices reflect the PETplus discounted pricing. Members can also purchase a variety of items at the PETplus online store which are shipped free. Membership includes access to a 24/7 Pet Help Line powered by whiskerDocs.
     

    1. After you enroll, you will receive instructions how to activate your PETplus plan. It only takes a minute to activate and add your pet’s information.
    2. Then you can start shopping immediately for pet products at wholesale prices.
    3. Delivery is always free, and is usually shipped that day.
    4. For most prescriptions, you can, select the “pick-up” option at checkout. Choose a local pharmacy from over 50,000 locations nationwide, including Walmart, Target and CVS. Simply present your PETplus membership card.
  • Which pets are eligible?

    All dogs and cats are eligible for PETplus. This includes older pets and even pets with pre-existing or hereditary conditions. A single pet plan covers one dog or cat, and an unlimited plan covers all of the dogs and cats that reside in your home.

  • When can I enroll?

    You can enroll at any time.

  • When can I start receiving my savings?

    Immediately! You will receive instructions how to activate your online account before your benefit start date. Just login to your PETplus account, register your pets, and you’ll be able to start shopping immediately.
  • When/how can I cancel my coverage and when would it take effect?

    You can cancel your coverage at any time by contacting Mercer at 855-290-5661 or selecting the current benefit elections option at www.BHBenefitsplus.com, logging in, and declining the benefit(s) you wish to cancel (leave others unchanged). The cancellation would become effective the first day of the month after the request and you could re-enroll at any time. If payroll deducted, your first or second paycheck after the cancellation is processed would reflect the change and a refund should be issued within 30 days of the date the cancellation is processed by your plan Carrier, if applicable.
  • How do I use PETplus?

    After you enroll, you will receive instructions how to activate your online account and can start shopping immediately on all mail-order items. If you want to pick up prescriptions from a pharmacy, you can print a PETplus card from your online account and the actual card will typically arrive in 5-7 business days.
  • How do I pick up a PETplus order?

    Look up participating retail pharmacies at https://www.petplus.com/. Bring your pet’s prescription and PetPlus card to the pharmacy and have it filled right there. Employees do not pay the pharmacy; PETplus will charge your account on file for the wholesale amount after you pick up the medication.
  • How do I use the Ask-a-vet feature?

    Simply login in to your petplus.com account and click the Ask-A-Vet button to contact veterinary specialists 24 hours a day with questions about pet health, behavior and wellness.
  • How do I pay for this benefit?

    Payments are made via Baystate Health payroll deduction. Payroll deduction is not available to employees who work less than 16 hours or are in a per diem employment status, however, payment can be made directly with the benefit carrier.
  • What are the typical savings with PETplus?

    When you purchase preventatives, supplements, and medications, you can expect savings of:

    • $198/yr (Healthy Pets)
    • $1,005/yr (Cushing's Disease)
    • $1,166/yr (Arthritis)
  • After I enroll in Pet Assure’s PETplus Discount, what happens next?

    Once you enrolled on the BenefitsPlus website, your new coverage information is sent from Mercer to Pet Assure/PETplus. This enrollment file is sent every Monday to Pet Assure/PETplus. You should allow three business days for the file to be processed and the Pet Assure/PETplus system updated with your information. Approximately one week after this, Pet Assure/PETplus will mail your enrollment confirmation and policy documentation to the address you provided. This information will contain your Redemption Code. Once you receive this code, you can begin using the service. It can take around 2-4 weeks for you to begin seeing premiums deducted from your paycheck.

    For example: If you enrolled on the BenefitsPlus website on Tuesday May 2, Mercer would send the file to Pet Assure/PETplus on Monday May 8. Pet Assure/PETplus should have your enrollment in in their system on May 11. You will receive your Redemption Code via a home mailing, approximately May 18 and you can begin using the service at that time.

    If you are in a per-diem employment status or work part-time (less than 16 hours or less than 15 hours VNA), the above process does not apply as you will enroll and make payments directly with each carrier.
  • What if my employment status changes?

    If you leave or retire from your current employer, you can continue your plan membership at the same rate. Once your plan is inactive, you can log in to your account at www.petbenefits.com to continue your plan. Or simply call or email Pet Benefit Solutions’ customer service.
  • How much does it cost?

    PETplus is only $4.50/month for a single dog or cat and $8.50/month for an unlimited number of cats and dogs. No need to submit pet information or get a quote, all breeds, health, ages, and pre-existing conditions are eligible.

  • What is covered?

  • Which pets can I enroll?

    Any dog or cat is eligible for PETplus. No restrictions on breed, health, or age.

  • Is PETplus insurance?

    No, PETplus is not pet insurance. It is a comprehensive benefits program designed to help save pet parents time and money in all areas of their pet’s care. Unlike even the best pet insurance, PETplus has no exclusions for pets with pre-existing conditions; there are no claims forms, limits, or deductibles. PETplus works as an alternative or complement to traditional pet insurance. Pet parents use PETplus to save on prescriptions and preventatives, costs, that traditional pet insurance does not cover.
  • How do I order pickup or delivery medications?

    First, search for the medication your pets need on PETplus.com. On each page, you’ll be able to see the various dosages and quantities available in the drop down menu, as well as the PETplus member price. Deliverability depends on the item -- some prescriptions are available for both delivery and in-store pickup, whereas others might only be attainable either via delivery or in-store pickup
  • Who dispenses my medications?

    PETplus is not a pharmacy. PETplus partners with National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) accredited Caremark pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and PetCareRx to fulfill your pet prescriptions. Orders dispensed through online mail-order will be directed to PetCareRx, and those through in-store pickup will be dispensed at the local Caremark network pharmacy of your choice.
  • How do I pick up my pet’s prescription at a pharmacy?

    After making a purchase for pharmacy pickup at PETplus.com, you will need to bring both your pet’s prescription and your PETplus card to the pharmacy at which you are picking up your order. Inform the pharmacist that you are picking up a prescription for your pet and have a pet prescription benefits card. You should NOT be charged at the pharmacy for your purchase. Within 2 days of your pickup, your PETplus account will be charged for the purchase.
